19th C. French Shell Brooch, Gold & Silver Inlaid Decoration

This listing is for a lovely 19th Century French natural shell brooch inlaid with gold and silver decoration. The design features stylized flowers in four medallions around the outside of the brooch and has horizontal gold bands across the center. The outside border is scalloped with gold surrounding the shell background of the brooch. We have not tested the metal and have found no hallmarks, however, the workmanship on this brooch is outstanding and it is a high-quality brooch with very fine details. When the brooch is held to a light the details of the shell background are pronounced. The brooch has a pin closure and an open "C" clasp.
Measures 1 3/8" long (North to South) and 1 3/4" wide (East to West). Weighs 6 grams.
This attractive brooch/pendant is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. There are a few faint indentions where the outline for the inlay work was cut but overall, this is not noticed unless magnification is used.
