Antique Victorian Gold Gilded Watch Cock Face Pin Brooch

Antique Georgian / Victorian ~ gold gilded watch cock ~ pin /brooch ~ featuring an engraved gilt watch-cock which was part of pocket watches made in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries which acted as cover to protect the watch movement . Each and every watch-cock is unique , hand crafted hand crafted with intricate cut work design ~ Featuring face at bottom of each panel ~ Hinged clasp with old "C" clasp .
These old watch were replaced by mechanical watches in the 19th century and the Victorians began to turn the ornate watch-cocks into jewelry.

Pin is 3/4 inches in total length x 7/8 inches max chain width.
Condition :
Good antique condition with minor age related wear ~ Clasp is in good working order ~ I think a small dangle is missing as it has a loop an backside .
