    The crank
La Manivelle is an Alsatian musical trio and then duo, founded by Liselotte Hamm,
Jean-Marie Hummel and Jeff Benignus (from 1978 to 1983).
Since La Manivelle is the name of the association which supports the projects and achievements of Liselotte,
Jean-Marie and their partners. These two tireless troubadours of Alsatian music and poetry have never ceased to perform on the stage of concert halls, Alsace cabarets, libraries ...
from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Lithuania, Serbia, Czechia, Poland, United States, to Mayotte ...
and also on the major festival stages (accompanied by the 40 musicians of the Rhinwagges at the Summerlied 2002 festival), the musicians of Barabli Hit in a festive tribute to Germain Muller and Mario Hirlé but also on all the continents where a community of Alsatians lives abroad.
Their repertoire in Alsatian, German and French (a few songs also in Italian, Yiddish, Spanish, English, ...) is characterized either by a scathing humor and always relevant, or by a personal poetic research, readings in music (presented during Conversations in Strasbourg or at the National University Library in Strasbourg) based on well-known or lesser-known authors and poets (Boris Vian, Henri MICHAUX , Louis Aragon, Victor Hugo, Mac Orlan; writers from Alsace and Germany : the Matthis brothers in cabaret, André Weckmann, Maxime Alexandre, Bert Brecht, Tucholsky, Yvan Goll, Jean-Paul de Dadelsen, Claude Vigée, René Schickelé, Kafka, JMG Le Clézio, and finally also Raymond Queneau, Jacques Prévert, etc. )
Sensitive and committed to various great causes such as the quality of the environment as well as artistic quality, their songs with texts reflect their ideals, hidden behind texts which are sometimes just corrosive and always loaded with this literary verve and these poetic images (often untranslatable ) specific to the Alsatian language or quite simply to the poetic language.
    Their first LP is called
Goodbye father I want to be a musician
