Unknown Badge Believed to be German WWII - Possibly Silver

Let me start by saying that this is 100% guaranteed to be original AND old.  I believe it to be from the WWII period, and I THINK it's German, but I am NOT knowledgeable on military stuff, so if I'm wrong, please let me know and I will change the listing accordingly.
With that said, this piece is probably made of Sterling Silver, though I have not tested it.  It measures approximately 1 1/8" across (wing tip to wing tip) and has a jump ring at the top center that I am assuming would have been where it attached to a ribbon of some sort.  Condition is as you see it.  No markings that I was able to see.
