    Description

Victorian Brooch Detailed Grape Leaves  Surround Carnelian Shell Cameo
This unusual Victorian pin has delicate grape leaves tinted with gold fill and copper colors surrounding a small carnelian and shell cameo on 3 sides. Metal bars representing grape vines  extend behind the leaves horizontally and on either side of the cameo, their polished bias cut ends are shiny with gold fill. Above the cameo the top, the stems of the leaves curl vine-like and attach to the frame behind them. The  pin is 2 1/2 inches across and 3/4 inch high at the center. The shell cameo is a woman in profile with a hat and single hanging feather. Her neckline is square cut with a ''modesty panel'' to hide her cleavage. The shell has a chip at the nose, but it's only noticeable very close up.
