Victorian Buckle Brooch, Sash Pin, ca. 1900

Description

This elegant brooch has a heavyweight brass body shaped to look like a buckle, with an attached prong piece at the center to complete the illusion. The brooch has a delicately chased botanical design, accented with pierced flower shapes and capped off with tiny faux pearls. This is a heavier piece, appropriate to wear on a coat. The brooch measures about 2 3/16" x 1 11/16".
Condition is excellent overall with no major issues. The metal around the little pierced flower "petals" is darkened, giving a bit of an aged look. The brooch has an early safety catch that has a tiny bit of wiggle, but is still secure. When securing it, be sure to push it until you feel a slight click to make sure it is completely closed.
