Post WWII 1957 ORIGINAL GERMAN WAR MERIT KNIGHTS CROSS WITH SWORDS and ORIGINAL RIBBON, Silver 800 with Markers Mark 41... 2nd to last awarding of the replacement type, very rare and superb quality, silver with mark, on Original used cravat ribbon. After the third 1960 production run, the replacements were discontinued in 1986 by the German government. This decoration is extremely rare. They are hard to find... Very pricey in the thousands, that most collectors would not sell them. This is why there are only a few Originals listed on Ebay...INFORMATION

The 1957 War Merit Cross came about in the post war years due to Germany's strict laws prohibiting the wearing or display of the swastika. On 26 July 1957 the West German government authorized replacement War Merit Cross awards without the swastika. This allowed World War II War Merit Cross recipients the ability to display their awards in public without civil or political repercussion
